I grew up on a farm, moved away, bounced around, then went back to the farm.
That about sums it in a very direct fashion. If you want to check my red neck bona fides you can go here; it’s a blog I played with a few years ago. Sort of a nostalgic look back at my childhood.
After the farm I went to college, got a nice degree that you do nothing with. Then I wanted to see about movies and went to film school. Full Sail specifically, for those of you who might be unfamiliar with the institution it was sort of like the ITT Tech of movie making; might still be, it’s been over a decade since I left.
After that I moved to New York, got a day job, wrote scripts and tried to network a little (not my favorite thing to do). I got broke in NYC (not that I had any money going in) and started to tire of it; little fish, massive pond and all that. Ended up in Austin where a friend from film school had a room available. Did the day job, networking, P.A. thing down there as well. Wrote more, got better at it.
And after about 10 or 12 years away I found myself moving back to the country from whence I came (skipping a shit-ton here, but you know, brief). Leading us to the now and this new endeavor of making a movie right on the farm. Which is a bit ironical after not making movies in the places you would assume it would be better or more advantageous.
